Mojang have finally announced a new fourth dimension, [music] the Sift.And naturally, people are already wondering how this will affect 2b2t,a server where the normal limits of Minecraft simply don’t apply.Will it become the most significant update in 2b2t, history or become just another novelty?Let’s take a look.Here we are at 2b2t, spawn and I’m on the hunt for an ancient city because the previously, unused deep dark portal is the theorized way we will get into the Sift,just like on Dungeons.Oh, I think we got something.Well, that took me little more than 5 minutes to find that.Let’s go down and take a look.As you can see, the portal is fully intact.And what’s crazy is this is just under 6K, blocks from spawn in terrain that was probably first generated, 12 years ago before the 1.19, update in 2023, added all the minus zero stuff even in these old chunks.Having to enter via an ancient city does make things a little spicy.

Obviously, Wardens are going to be a problem,especially if the portal is difficult to open.Also,these portals can be broken, and the reinforced, deepslate blocks that make them can’t be obtained in survival.So,players will need to go further, and further to find them when they start getting inevitably, grieved.This will become a slight annoyance.However, unlike strongholds,ancient cities spawn infinitely over a Minecraft world.And as less than 0.03% of 2b2t’s overworld has been explored,unless there is some special criteria, we don’t know about yet that requires certain locations,>> [music] >> it won’t take too long to find an ungrieved one.My biggest question on the Sift is,will travel there affect your location in the overworld?This is a huge consideration for 2b2t players.Currently,traveling one block in the nether equals eight blocks in the overworld.Imagine if one block in the Sift equal 20 blocks in the overworld.It could make finding or hiding bases far out much easier.The question then is, where would you respawn in the overworld?The closest ancient city?While this would be very exciting for 2b players,it doesn’t make much sense for vanilla players.So, perhaps you’ll just respawn at the same portal you entered from,or go back to spawn if it gets broken.Pretty boring.Hopefully though, it’s something more unique.I mean, imagine if from the sift you could exit into any dimension.Jesus, the chaos that would bring to 2b2t.What everyone is thinking though is will 2b2t even get it?Many on the 2b subreddit are skeptical.Their reasoning is solid as 2b is traditionally very slow to update.We were stuck on 1.12, for several years and have currently been on version 1.21.4, since June of 2025.So, the server is already several versions behind.The folia software the server runs on supports all new versions of the game.So, why haven’t we updated?Well,it can’t be easy when the server is 80,000, gigabytes and there were over a million players worth of data to consider.Plus, all the custom mods and plugins would probably have to be updated,too.That being said, I think this update is important enough to warrant the work.Depriving players of a whole new dimension, is not the same as depriving them of happy ghasts.Players will want to visit the sift, and the server [music] would quickly become obsolete without it.Even if we do get it though, will 2b2t players actually care?[music] Mojang’s hints from Minecraft Live is it will be the hardest dimension.[music] And as it will be added where people can already have god gear,that could be very hard indeed.That could be fun for vanilla gameplay,but for 2b players it would just be annoying.So,unless there is a very good reason to go there like one of the travel mechanics, we talked about earlier,the novelty could quickly wear off,

which we’ve seen on structures like trial chambers,which are mostly ignored on 2b now as maces have been duped.So, the sift might become like the end on 2b2t,almost completely abandoned.The fact is right now we just don’t have enough information, to see what impact the Sith will make on 2b2t.The potential implications are definitely exciting,but we have to be prepared that the reality could be quite disappointing.I’ll keep you updated as more information is released
