idgaf about looks
I used to be one of those guys that thought looks didn’t matter, that if you got your social skills right, your mental health, and your game on point, that was enough. You didn’t need to look the part. And maybe that was something, you could get away with back, when I first started improving, my dating life around 2018.But today, I don’t think that’s optional anymore.I think you literally have to look smacks now just to meet the bare minimum. And look,I used to train for strength, for a long time because I told, myself the gym is for me,and that the right person won’t care about all of that. But in my head, the logic never really added, up because I also kept working, out because I wanted to get bigger, and to get the girls.I really just wouldn’t admit it to myself.I was like, “Nah,I’m not one of those guys.I’m training for me.I’m training for strength.” And that was stupid when I think back.It was really, really stupid.I think the reason I thought this way was that all the way back when I was 17,
how to pick up chicks
I made the infamous Google search,“How to pick up chicks?” or something like that,“How to get girls?” And I found this forum.I think it was called Girls Chase back then.Read a bunch of the articles.Wasn’t very inspired.Didn’t really take a lot of action because I felt quite anxious. So,it helped me in the sense of, getting to think about this kind, of stuff that I could, improve my dating life. But I hadn’t really done much at this point.I was still a virgin.Nothing had happened.I had maybe kissed one girl in my life at that point.Maybe I don’t even think at that point I had that. That came on later. And then I discovered this group online, Real Social Dynamics. And they were very controversial, and they were pretty much shut down,I think, at some point. But there was this guy, Max,that I started to follow, and he really pushed out the fact that if you could just learn game, and if you just learned social skills, you didn’t really have to take care of your looks.Like looks didn’t matter.
He was walking around in shoes with holes in them. And he had like Jurassic Park t-shirts.He looked really weird, let me say it like that. And it was inspiring because he got the girls. So, why wouldn’t I be able to also do it even though I wasn’t looking the part. That was my thought back then.
pre-2020 was different
So, instead,I really put a lot of time, aside from going to university and music,I put a lot of time into just going out there, trying to approach people, and improving my social skills.Meaning, I was in the party committee at university.I was an international mentor for international students.I went abroad in order to basically socialize, and force myself to make new friends. All of this this helped a bunch. And back then, it really did make a big difference. It changed pretty much everything for me.But, the problem is then 2020 hit,the lockdown hit.Everyone suddenly went chronically online, and started measuring themselves, against the best-looking people who have ever existed all day.And suddenly, the standards for looks rise quite a bit.People went way more onto dating apps, and we started comparing ourselves a lot.The reason this is a problem is what you see online is not truth.People they manipulate their photos, and suddenly you also end up comparing yourself to people with 500,000.
Instagram follower accounts, people looking really, really good. And while you might feel like you already look good, I wasn’t ugly by any means, but I was no model either. And suddenly I felt like, “Wow,I I look terrible.” And that, like that’s the initial feeling, I got from comparing myself to, people online that were really,
about incels
really good-looking, like literal models, where I’m like, “Damn,I have no shot.” And a lot of people started thinking this way.I really never really got into the whole blackpill incel community.I think it’s really dumb because what it preaches, as far as I know,I might be ignorant, is that you’re just stuck at this level, you can’t really improve.I don’t think that’s true.I think you can do so much, which is also what I preach on this channel. Both in terms of your internals, like your in this case social skills, your game, your mental health, but also externally, like improving your looks. And I’ll get more into the actual how-to later in the video, but my point is here I was never blackpilled,I was never in these incel communities because they were really repulsive to me.Like, why would I abandon my hope of being able to improve, by escaping into these communities?I’d rather have a person telling me that you got to put in the work,
and then you get good enough down the road, even if that was a little toxic.
how i started to change
But yeah, looking back, one of the things where I really changed myself is through my body, and building an aesthetic body.Because when I was a teenager, like 17,18, 19,I was extremely skinny.I went to martial arts, specifically karate back then, and I did some light strength training, but that was more so to enhance my performance at karate. And then when I went to university at 20,I was playing so much music, and I was so busy with my chemistry, degree that I honestly didn’t, have time for everything. That’s the first time I I realized, that lesson that I have to cut, something out of my life right, now, because otherwise I’m going to get nowhere. So I decided to actually stop going to karate, which was literally right before I got my black belt, so really, really difficult decision back then. But then I could focus more on university, improving my social skills, dating, and just playing music, which I was super passionate about. So really getting into that uni culture. And also my dorm life.
is where I practiced a lot of my social skills, by just being as as engaged as possible. But yeah, I kept strength training, and really back then, I I as I said in the intro,I didn’t really want to admit that I wanted to train for looks, but I kind of did a little of it.But the way I did it was just not the most efficient way in terms of aesthetics, because I only did the big compound lifts. If you know a little bit about the gym, I I hope you do,because I highly recommend it as a good habit to adapt into your life. But if you don’t,I basically ran this beginner program called Starting, Strength and StrongLifts for a very long time, which is very focused on the core lifts, which is just the squat, the deadlift, the bench press, the overhead press, and then either the barbell row or the power clean. And I literally only did those exercises.I didn’t do any biceps, triceps, rear delts, like any of these uh isolation exercises, because I didn’t train for looks, right? That’s what I told myself.
And because of this, my physique definitely grew in the beginning, but I got stuck really early on in terms of my looks anyway. So,I packed on a significant amount of muscle and people they told, me that they could see that I started working out for serious, but compared to where I am now, like I looked terrible back then in my own opinion anyway. Some people will probably disagree, but I don’t think I look very good back then. And even today,I think I have a mid physique if I compare myself to people on the internet, but that’s the trap, right?Cuz when I if I walk outside my door shirtless, and let’s say in in a special world cuz everybody, would just be walking around shirtless that I meet,I think my physique would probably be top 10, maybe top five. But if because we spend so much time on social media and we compare ourselves, and the standards have just risen, a lot over the last couple years, if you spend time in the spaces, that I do,the self-improvement spaces, I have a mid physique compared to them,
which is still really, really good. That’s what what we got to remember. But the bar for looks have just risen so much since the lockdown. And I will say even though I have done that,I can feel that people they literally treat me way differently, now than when I was 19,20.And some of it, of course,is confidence and vibe, but a lot of it is also just, the first impression when you, see him but somebody and you’re, like,he takes care of himself. He looks good. He’s a big guy, like in the good way,not in the totally obese kind of way.And I think the biggest moment where I realized this is when I was a toastmaster, at one of my best friend’s wedding. And one of my old high school pals who hadn’t seen me for 10 years,he told me that I was literally a very different guy that he was afraid, when he heard that I was going to be the toastmaster, because he literally thought it was going to be a disaster, because I was such a mess when I was a teenager. This skinny, spotty kid,no muscle, no social confidence,
no social skills at all.Like I didn’t have things going for me.I was the very quiet guy who wouldn’t say anything. So, here I was just blossoming,I controlled the room, I was fun as Toastmaster.I Of course had the physique now, so he also noticed that,“Wow,you you’ve done so much work.” He He just told me he was incredibly, amazed by how much I changed and that the old me was dead.
this is all you need for looksmaxxing
And I’m so grateful that I put in the work. Now, I want to make this video as useful as possible,so I’m going to give you a couple steps you can do right now and also long-term,like within the next 1 to 2 years,in order to actually, really make a big change, within this area of looks maxing, and seeing the actual difference it makes to your own confidence, your own mental health, and the people around you.For me, there was one book that had a big impact on my,{quote} looks maxing journey, which was the book Models by Mark Manson. It is a dating book that goes a lot into vulnerability and how to date honestly. There’s two things from that book in regards to looks maxing, which is fashion and fitness. And those are the core essentials. If you do nothing else, then I’d recommend you do those.
fashion advice
And let me dive into those two specifically.Because if we start with fashion, his recommendation was just a belief,a brown set, and a black set that fits you very well, and then have complimentary like shirts to fit with that. That’s good and all.Times have changed a lot since he wrote that book.I think we can do better today. And I I actually think that I am not the expert here on fashion,so I’d actually just recommend you to go on to YouTube, and look up something like never struggle to put an outfit together again.Find a couple of those videos, watch those, get inspired, and go out and buy some of those sets. What I’d also recommend is if you don’t know, what to actually do if you get overwhelmed by this step, just buy black clothes because nearly everyone can look good in black. It’s so simple, you cannot really go wrong with it.My basic outfit that literally works, 80% of the time is a black T-shirt that’s slim fit, fits to my body, a black pair of jeans that can be a smart pair of pants,
and then a white pair of sneakers. If you have just that and then something to put over, it can be an overshirt, something like a light blue denim jacket to put over it,You’re going to look really good like already at that point.Get some jewelry as well, maybe a necklace, maybe a bracelet, a watch.I have all these.I mainly wear my watch, but I also love my necklace and my bracelet, occasionally. Then you’re really really set already and it doesn’t take a lot of money. You can shop in a lot of cheap places.I buy most of my t-shirts from Zara, and I think my light blue denim jacket is from Primark.
fitness advice
There’s plenty of places you can shop here.In terms of fitness,I’m going to give you the quick, basics here because if you’ve, never stepped into the gym,I’d actually recommend you to do the same thing as I did.Go on to StrongLifts, run their, routine for 12 weeks because, it’s going to introduce you to, the gym in a very simple way, because, those exercises, the squat, the bench, the deadlift, the overhead press and rows, they are very foundational, to understanding like a lot of other stuff in relation to fitness, and strength training and also building muscle. So I’d recommend you start with those, but then, when you’ve learned those and, when you when you’ve done that, program for roughly 12 weeks, you can keep going if you’re progressing a lot,but like I wouldn’t run it for, that long if you’re purely focused on looks maxing and aesthetics. Then I’d actually go into something like an aesthetic program. And again, I’m not a fitness YouTuber here like what I said with fashion.
So I’ll go I’m going to give you some of my recommendations, but actually I’d recommend, you go watch the Average to Jack channel and potentially, Jeff Nippard if you want some of the science behind all of this and more stuff, but I think if you just go watch Average to Jack, his training philosophy, is a lot of what I I’m currently doing and what I recommend because, his workouts are fairly short like they’re I think around 45 minutes. He trains three times a week, maybe four times on his his actual program that he’s selling.I’ve I think I’ve heard that, but like two to three times a week is a very very good starting point. You can do so much more.A lot of people think you need to go to the gym, five to six times a week to really build a good body. You don’t need to do that. You can do that if you really, want to, but I’d recommend you, to start with three.Like if I was completely new to this, I was just coming off of StrongLifts,I would go on to the Average to Jack channel,
find some videos of his push pull legs workout. So essentially you have one day where you do the pushing exercises, you have one day you do the pulling exercise, then one day where you do the legs exercises. So you have three days a week, and then I would focus on the aesthetic muscle groups. And off the top of my head, these are the neck, the traps, the upper chest, the lateral delts, the rear delts, the lats, the abs,the biceps. You also want to include the parts of the legs,so the glutes and hamstrings and the quads. And then I’d say maybe calves, but I maybe wouldn’t bother.Like if you just want the essentials. And then you just need to find exercises around those muscle groups.I literally think if you find the free Average to Jack program, you can literally find out how he works out on YouTube, copy that, then you you’re you’re basically covered.I I’m not sure if he trains his neck directly.I think he does.I’ve seen videos of him doing it.
But like for the upper chest for example, you do 45 degree incline bench press. That’s the first exercise in most of his programs, I believe. So just go and make that search, follow what he says,or you can also find like other programs, but it’s just if you want it to be really, really easy and you don’t know what to do, that’s what I’d recommend. And the cool thing is when you build an aesthetic body, fashion also becomes way easier because the clothes will fit you much better.
hairstyle advice
And a final thing I want to say in these steps here is that, your hair matters a lot.Like some people they don’t know, how to style their hair and they, don’t know what kind of hairstyle, that fits their head and their like the whole whole looks. So what I actually recommend is for a couple times go to a barber, like a good barber, and ask them for recommendations for which hairstyle to get. It’s literally just like go in there, maybe actually find some photos of hairstyles you like online, and then go to the barber, show them the photos, tell him that I think I want something like this, but I’m not sure it would fit my head completely.I want you to verify or like give me recommendations, on what kind of hairstyles, you think would look good on, me and then see what happens, because then you can actually, iterate on this. Then you get that hair hairstyle, maybe it was like 80% of the way there. Then the next time you go to the barber, either the same barber or a different barber, you can tell them,
“I got this hair hairstyle last time.I have these pictures I found online.I’m thinking I want to lean more in this direction. What do you think?” So,then you actually just do kind of self-improvement, for your hair at this point where, just like it starts to fit you, better over time and you really, just dial in what you like.
stop here
Now,I want to give you a big big caveat because, there’s something you need to be careful of.At some point, you can really fall into this rabbit hole of looks maxing.I think if you do these three things, so fashion, fitness, figuring out a good hairstyle for you,and yeah, I forgot to say that at least in terms of fitness, like you’re going to look better when you’re lean, but you also want to build muscle. So, you want to bulk a bit first and that’s a whole another topic of itself, like bulking versus cutting. But,just know that you’ll probably need to eat in a surplus, for a while to build a significant amount of muscle, but you’re going to look the best when you slim down to around 12% body fat. That’s at least sustainable for most.Um, but anyway, what I was about to say is this is quite a rabbit hole, and there’s a lot of techniques to looks maxing.I’ve tried a bunch of things like sleeping with tape on my mouth, to basically force mewing, like keeping your tongue in a certain position.
And while all this can probably help out a little bit, this is not something that’s significantly going to change you,in my personal opinion.I think your time is better spent working on something actually useful, to you to the world, going out there, improving your social skills, etc.Basically, what my original dating coach back in the day told me.So,get to the point where you’re like 80% there and then I don’t think you should, worry too much about it.I don’t think about looks maxing on the day-to-day anymore.I go to the gym and I run like an aesthetic workout routine.Right now,I’m just going two times a week and mainly focused on work these days, because there is definitely a lot of diminishing returns to this and honestly, some of the communities, I’ve seen like they’re the they are literally the those insult communities, where they’re talking about this random stuff that doesn’t matter at all.Like that it might give you 2% better looks. But honestly, if you’re such a weirdo,
you’re coming off like a creep when you talk to girls.Don’t even bother, man.Just do these three steps and then, you’ll be much better off just focusing on something else.So now, just to circle back to where we started, and I want to wrap this video, up by saying that if you want, to get some clarity on this kind, of thing one-on-one,there’s a link in the description, to book a clarity session with me and get aligned on your next steps. If not, I hope you enjoyed this video. Please leave a like rating if, you like the video and leave, a comment if you have some thoughts, on this topic.I hope to see you in the next one.
