So,there is a rumor going around that the Rail Gun manga, is coming to an end next month. And not just the current arc either, the entirety of the manga, which has been publishing monthly since 2007.It’s actually the Rail Gun manga’s 19th anniversary. And so much for that because apparently, according to chapter leaks, this could be the end of Rail Gun.I mean, we still got season 4 coming out,but if the manga ends, then there won’t be any more subsequent seasons.I’ll put the manga scan on screen right here. And as you can see, it says that this will be the final chapter next month. This hasn’t yet been confirmed by the rail gun editor, Goranga.Although,Japanese Twitter users have pulled up a tweet from the past implying, that the first year arc, which is the arc that is about to end, will be the last in the Rail manga.as Moto Fuyukawa, the rail gun mangaka, wants to go on to different things as he’s pretty much dedicated his entire, manga career doing rail gun and nothing else.
and he’s encouraging that he will support him in his next project, and yeah Japanese Taru Twitter is gone berserk, over this they are treating it as yes this is definitely confirmed, that, it’s the final chapter of rail, gun and it’s coming to an end, okay so I’m recording this a, day later as Yes,we do now have official confirmation, that the real Gamonga is now ending next month. And yeah, I would just like to thank Kamachi Sensei,Fu Yukawa Sensei, and everyone behind the team that created Rail Gun.It’s one of the most successful anime spin-offs of all time.I mean, considering its impact in China, and the fact that, it’s gone on for 19 years is insane for like a spin-off of a series.I know it’s monthly, but still it’s it’s no mean feat, and it’s definitely contributed to why Taru became so successful. And it’s had like so many fantastic arcs and moments, the DA arc and the sisters arc especially amongst other, fights and moments across every single arc.
It’s kind of sad that we won’t be able to see much of Saturn now.She was a character that almost exclusively, appeared in rail gun apart from like the odd cameo in the index light novels.I want to talk about it just in case this is the end of the rail gun manga, as yeah I’m not caught up to date with the rail gun manga.I have gone back and forth between reading the first year arc multiple times.I just struggle to keep consistent with it.Mainly due to its monthly release schedule, and the fact that there have been a lot of new characters this arc, with it exploring, Misa’s very first year in Tokiwadai.I know it’s kind of ironic for an index fan to say that, but no,legit. There’s three clicks that are introduced, all with different characters and different members, that, aren’t really present in the current timeline or or the second year of Tokiwa, that Misica and Shokho are there.Of course, there familiar faces who do show up,but I’m talking about overall.
and it’s just kind of hard to keep up with the story, keep track of who’s who, etc.But since it is coming to an end, yes,I will be reading it in its entirety, and then I’ll be able to give you, a fairer assessment, of the first year arc as I probably, been a bit critical of it uh, from what I have read. But I’m sure it has probably gotten a little bit better, um especially because the main plot is now finished. Also, then I would be able to review Rail Gorn in its entirety, if this is indeed the end. Now, I’m sure you’re thinking, why is Rail Gun ending here if this is the case?As yeah, technically Rail Gun could go on forever.I mean,it’s not like it’s doing terrible, in terms of sales and it does, have a new anime adaptation, coming soon, which I do find somewhat strange if it is ending cuz you would think, oh yeah, more people are going to, catch up with the manga chapters and then buy the volumes, but nope.I I don’t know.Maybe Rail Gun season 4 is simply a way for Kadakawa or Deneki Bunko to.
get more eyes on the other spin-offs of Taru such as, item and mental out which are still ongoing.Nevertheless, the real gun manga hasn’t really had a continuous direction, in terms of a story since about the Dasi arc. What do I mean by that?I’m talking about an overarching narrative. You can see where the story is going. It’s either foreshadowing or building up to something. But no,we had the Kihara, against plot line from the very, first arc of rail gun which continued through to the Dazai, arc, and that was resolved along with the whole level six experiments, and they can’t really do that again. Then [snorts] you had the dream ranker arc which, explored Indian poker and then the doppelganger arc, which then explored the concept of a soul, and then you have the jailbreaker, arc which which continued on from the DSA arc in terms of exploring, Tur’s dragon but it didn’t really flesh out or explain, what was up with that.Instead, it kind of added more plot points to what was going on,especially with Uiharu.
[snorts] And yeah, if anything,it left a lot of loose ends in terms of plot threads. And then we had the first year arc, which apparently had been planned for quite some time. And yet, that was a prequel arc.It wasn’t continuing the the main story, unless yeah,it’s going to tie in with the present somehow. But I don’t know.I can’t really judge it at the moment. So, until I catch up with it,but from what I gather,it’s not really addressing anything to do with the dragons or Uiharu, etc.from what happened with Jailbreaker. So, yeah,it’s it’s it’s a mystery, unless this was the the plan all along to make Rail Gunner, episodic, arc series where it’s just yeah,we’ll tell distinct arcs and not have an overarching narrative anymore, which seems strange considering it did start off with one.You would think it would do the, kind of the Old Testament thing, where it was more episodic and, then, it all culminates together to have a satisfying ending with World War II,
but Rail Gun’s kind of done the opposite, which is very strange. Also,I do want to say that if you’re interested in seeing a retrospective, on the entire Rail Gun series and a review of the final arc, then subscribe to the channel, as I’ll be making those videos, in tribute to Rail Gun.Speaking of World War II,I am one of the people who wanted to see World War II be adapted.World War II happened for multiple, days and I know we did see some, of what she did in the index, but yeah, maybe there’s a story that you could flesh out there.Maybe that would be the swan song for Rail Gun somehow.I don’t know.Uh it would have just been nice to see another, index arc from Misa’s point of view like we had with the sisters arc and Diazi, and then maybe do something similar with New Testament. But again, there doesn’t seem to be a clear plan of rail gun.And I felt that’s been the case for quite some time. But why would it end here? What? And I’ve seen people saying,
why would it end on a prequel arc now that I think about it and I’ve seen how, this arc ends up?I mean,we we know how it’s going to end up like Kuroko becomes Ma’s roommate and Shoko, then gets the largest click and Takiwa die in uh the second year.We we know how it, ends basically because it is a prequel and we know, the status quo which is in Index and Rail Gun.So it’s it’s it’s not a surprise how it’s ended.Uh but I guess it’s the means of how it happens which, is the selling point of the story, if there was one to begin with because there, has been the argument which I have put forward which is that, is this prequel arc really necessary?Did we was it crucial to have or is it just a backstory which, you know adds a bit but, maybe some things are better left as a mystery. Not every not everything needs to be explained. Not everything needs an origin story for example. And yes I will have to read it to judge it for myself in its entirety.
If we have the first year arc ending with Misica and Kuroko becoming roommates, then it does tie in with the presence of how rail gun starts. So, in that sense, you could see how it ends and then Yes.Okay.Now, now it’s like a it’s like a circle. The story ends and then rail gun begins. So, it’s like a circular story in a way, which I guess could work as an ending, even though it’s not particularly a climactic ending or a satisfying ending. At the start of Rail Gun, you get Mishka and Kuroko working as a team. And at the end of the first year arc, you see how they do become roommates, which leads into the first arc of rail gun.So, yeah,it it works. But is it the best? No.Is it what people would want?probably not.And I say that as someone who prefers Index over rail gun.Yes, I got a lot of heat on Twitter for saying that.Oh my god, how dare you compare entries in the Terraru franchise to each other. But but I even feel like, Ardent Rail Gun fans who prefer Rail Gun will be disappointed with this ending,
especially because it’s been, you know,so long. That being said, yeah, because Rail Gun has felt like it’s just drifting aimlessly for a while,I I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end here, honestly, guys.Even though, yes,I I I don’t want to see it end here.I could see it [snorts] in my head that yes, okay, this this actually does make sense in a weird way.But I do think it’s a shame at the same time because yeah,I I do feel like rail gun does have more to offer than this.Like in terms of the sisters arc and dice arc and rail gun, they are such amazing arcs and blew the index ones out the water. And it makes you think, well, can’t he do something similar like that with any arcs in New Testament?Or did he just not have the inspiration or ideas?Or does Fuyukawa simply just want to call it quits? It’s probably the latter because yeah,Fyukawa’s been working on this for nearly two decades now,and it’s not his baby like index is Kamachi’s baby, and Kamachi is going to be doing that forever and ever.
It’s not the same with Fukawa. We we don’t know for Yukawa’s situation, but we can gather, maybe he does want to move on from what Goranga, did say and the loose ends that the manga has.Maybe that can be addressed, in Mental Out because Mental Out is exploring a lot of unexplored, themes in Rail Gun like Shadow Metal, etc. You have to invest in the entire Tuaru franchise to get the most out of it,not just one particular entry. It’s it’s truly a life investment to be a Taru fan.I would know. And it makes you think, are they planning to do a different spin-off?Maybe a Soita spin-off or maybe a Magic Side spin-off.That that would be a a shock to be sure, pun intended.Or maybe Kuroko can get her own spin-off as Rail Gun was intended to be as yes,Rail Gun was meant to be Kurico’s, story until Kamachi realized that Miso was more popular. So hey, what spin-off would you like to see in the Tou series next?and let me know your overall thoughts on the rail gun manga.
And make sure you check out my other videos on the channel, including the item confirmation promo, including news on a certain dark side item.
